Flynns Lewis Road Shiraz 2011

Flynns Lewis Road Shiraz 2011

Heathcote, Victoria   |    750ml   |    14.5%
Greg and Natalie Flynn spent 18 months searching for their property, 13 km north of the Heathcote township. Lewis Road, the location of Flynns Winery is the site of one of the earliest vineyard plantings on the famous ancient Cambrian soils of the Heathcote region. The Flynn's utilise traditional wine making methods to produce this wine, including small open fermenters, hand basket pressing and 10 months in French and American oak barriques.

It's rare to find a good quality Heathcote Shiraz at an affordable price, as a result we were excited when we recently tasted this new release. The 2011 Flynns Lewis Road Shiraz is a rather elegant, well-structured Heathcote Shiraz, that displays some nice violets notes on the nose, with with spice, berry flavours and exceptional balance all apparent on the palate. A classy Heathcote Shiraz that offer great value drinking at this price.

Reviews of previous vintage included below;

"94 Points. Good colour; has 5% viognier 'added', strange wording if in fact co-fermented; whatever the answer is, the wine has most attractive, juicy red fruits on the supple and silky medium-bodied palate. Screwcap. 13.9% alc. Drink 2017 Date Tasted Aug 10" - James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.

"Greg Flynn has a long association with the wine industry and makes the wines with wife, Natalie. This is a mid-length style with ripe black fruits and noticeable grip"- Ken Gargett, Gourmet Traveller Magazine, Feb/Mar 2011.
