The 2012 David Hook Old Vine Semillon is a terrific example of this flagship Hunter Valley white wine, that we're happy to offer at the special price of $22.90 a bottle.

Reviews of the 2011 vintage included below;

"94 Points. Light, quartz colour; a fresh and lively bouquet and palate has very good length and balance as if often the case with young screw capped Semillon, there are more citrus (almost Riesling- like) characters than there were in traditional semillons 10 to 15 years ago. The change is significant. Drink: 2020. $25." - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2013 Edition.

"David Hook's 2011 Old Vines semillon is strong in acid but no more than many a riesling with a grapefruit/lemon punch. Hook has also worked in spice, lemon-peel savouriness and middle-palate texture. It is a stunning semillon."- Jeni Port, The Age, May 15, 2012.

"92/100. Great value for a wine that shows so much further promise, but in its current incarnation is still a fine drink. Tightly packed with gentle phenolic grip, this is a lemony fresh white" - Mike Bennie, WBM October 2011.

"This 2012 David Hook Old Vines Semillon is produced from grapes grown at Pothana Vineyard on sandy loam soils. The vines are 28 years old and low yielding producing less than 3 tonnes per acre annually. The wine is bright lime green in colour with clean crisp semillon characters on the nose. The rich citrus fruit flavours are complimented by a grassy herbaceous lift. The palate is long with a sift lingering after taste and a crisp lemon acid finish." - David Hook Wines.
