Coombe Farm Pinot Noir 2011

Coombe Farm Pinot Noir 2011

Yarra Valley, Victoria   |    750ml   |    12.9%
Most lovers of Pinot Noir would agree it's incredibly difficult to find a good drinking Pinot for under $30. Coombe Farm of the Yarra Valley are making a good fist of it, consistently producing a Pinot Noir with plenty of varietal fruit flavours and impressive complexity.

The 2011 Coombe Farm Pinot Noir has been one of our most popular Pinot's of the past 6 months and we're happy to offer last stocks of it at the clearance price of $19.90 a bottle.

"Perfumed, supple and gentle, this restrained, lean and more elegant pinot is likely to flsh out with time in the bottle. Scented with delicate, spicy perfume of rose petals, raspberries, red cherries and gentle, dusty cedar/ vanilla oak, is presents a pleasing length of sweet red berry/ cherry fruit, fine tannins and restrained oak, wrapped in a fresh acidity. 91 Points." - Jeremy Oliver, The Australian Wine Annual 2013.

Pinot Noir is a variety that is ideally suited to the Yarra Valley. Coombe Farm grows a selection of the most premium and sought after clones and each year we select the best performing clones for the vintage wine. The 2011 wine is a blend of clones MV6 (75%), 115 (15%) and 114 (10%).

Of all varieties, the wines of Pinot Noir are the most barometric reflections of the vintage climatic conditions. 2011 was a very challenging vintage, with cool and wet conditions during the entire season. As a result, fruit was harvested a little earlier than usual and the wines display more elegance, subtlety of colour and delicacy on the palate, yet still have the obvious flavours and aromas that makes Pinot Noir so attractive.

The 2011 Coombe Farm Pinot Noir has lifted red berry fruit and floral notes, lovely savoury and spicy flavour, and its recognisably supple texture. It has an enduring finish that suggests it should age very well.
