Reviews of the 2013 vintage included below;

"96 Points. Bright, lime green-quartz; the vines are now 29 years old, but it is the vintage that has given this wine far more lime/citrus fruit on the bouquet and especially the palate than is usual for young Castle Rock Riesling. It is a great example of the synergistic union of terroir and climate (and man). Drink By: 2023 Price: $25.00 Date Tasted: 16 Dec 2013 Alcohol: 12.5%

"96 Points. Grown on 29 year old vines. Cropped low. Fermented dry. Labelled Porongurup Riesling. A star of a wine, in star form. This is racy and long but with the fruit power to really give it some throttle. Juicy lime and lots of it. Floral overtones. Scintillating. Alcohol: 12.5%. Price: $25 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2014 - 2028" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

Named after a prominent nearby landmark, Castle Rock Estate is nestled on the eastern slopes of the Porongurup mountains. Angelo and Wendy Diletti first planted vineyards in 1983, releasing the first vintage riesling in 1986.

The vineyard is situated 40km north east of Albany and 30km south east of Mount Barker, on a cool and elevated northerly aspect. This results in well ripened cool climate varieties producing intensely flavoured wines.

"Colour: Pale straw with green hues.

Bouquet: The nose is dominated by citrus characters, of lime juice and lemons. There are some floral lifted notes, orange blossom and a minerally edge, all of which add interest to the aroma.

Palate: There is a wonderful generosity of fruit and richness on the front palate, thanks to perfectly ripened grapes grown in a cool climate. The lime juice palate is succulent and mouth-watering, the rich fruit flavours are framed by the wonderful natural acidity. The acid core is powerful yet wonderfully balanced and gives the wine a mineral structure and great length. The wine is tight and restrained with an attractive delicacy now, yet will blossom with age for at least ten years.

Excellent ageing potential. It will continue to improve through its first year and then plateau, should drink well for at least 10 years."- Castle Rock Wines.
