Cape Bernier Pinot Noir 2011

Bream Creek, Tasmania   |    750ml   |    13.5%
Cape Bernier Vineyard is situated at Bream Creek on Tasmania's east coast overlooking historic Marion Bay. This is an ideal site for genuinely cool climate viticulture as the coastal location and maritime weather patterns ensure a frost-free spring, mild growing conditions throughout summer, and an extended cool autumn ripening period. The easterly aspect provides extended hours of sunshine while the sea breezes of the coastal location temper the heat of summer.

"90 Points. Deep colour, the bouquet offers dark fruits, spiced plum and charry roasted meat aromas; the palate is big boned and hefty, certainly at the big end of the pinot spectrum, and muscular to conclude. Needs time." - Ben Edwards, Australian Wine Companion 2014 Edition.

"Cape Bernier Pinot Noir 2011; our flagship wine, using only our best Pinot Noir fruit, is an elegant and full-bodied wine that presents our vineyard’s trademark Pinot Noir characteristics of berry fruits and savoury spice flavours. Made using classic Burgundian winemaking techniques, including wild yeast fermentation and new and old French oak, this wine is a superb example of cool climate Pinot Noir. The wine exhibits its South Eastern Tasmania roots showing berry fruit, dark plum and spice, whilst with bottle age shows subtle mushroom and forest floor characters." - Cape Bernier Wines.

"This ruby red, medium to full-bodied Pinot Noir has a bouquet of dark plum and wild berries, complemented by a complex palate of spicy fruit and French oak characters. The savoury fruit, natural acid and soft oak tannins of this wine blend well to make this a great food wine ideal with smoked salmon, cheese, chicken, veal or duck."- Cape Bernier Wines.
